BRENT ON DIRTY KANZA: Q & A
Q) What’s got you most excited about racing Dirty Kanza this year?
A) I’m really excited to experience the landscapes myself along the route that I’ve seen from the photos over the years. To be part of such an iconic event and to really get to ride these roads through some beautiful country is exciting to me.
Aero option–over 200 miles you want options for you position. Â Many run aero bars.
Q) How is your new Moots different from your other bikes and is there an aspect you think will give you the edge at Kanza?
A) I’ve been riding our Routt for a long time now, so I’m excited to test the Routt RSL. My Routt has been amazing and has taken me on the best cycling adventures of my life. I think my Routt RSL though is going to be faster, which is important over 200 miles, yet not compromise the comfort I love about my Routt.
All the bling. Â SRM power crank with gold bits + gold KMC chain & gold Crank Brothers pedals.
Q) What’s been the best training ride you have done so far in the lead up to Kanza?
A)The best ride so far was a weekend adventure ride in the back roads of Arkansas, where myself and three friends took our gear for a two day, 220 mile ride finding every gravel road possible. You don’t think of Arkansas as having hills, but day 1 of the ride involved 7500 feet of climbing. Good training ride for sure and yet it was an absolute blast!
The ultimate gravel race machine. Tune headset to match.
Q) What will be your go-to snack to sustain you over the 200 mile Kanza ride?
A)I don’t have a good answer for this one yet and the nutrition plan, which I know is critical, is still my biggest worry. I expect to have a lot of Quest protein bars which I love and probably some PB&J wraps.
Gold anodized logos + gold water bottle bolts and gold Moots bar tape.
Pre-ride video from 2017. Â Jeremiah banged out the DK200 in style.
The morning after DK200 2017.
The aftermath of 200 + miles in one sitting. Tool keg under the downtube, big bottles to stay hydrated.
There is a cassette and chain under there somewhere.
