Sometimes riders can amaze me. Can you imagine recieving a foreign bike, putting your pedals on it, setting the saddle height and reach to somewhere that might be close to your day to day ride, Â then, putting a few shorter test rides on it, to then line up at the Dirty Kanza 200? Â Well, that is exactly what Reuben Bakker-Dyos of BIKE RADAR did in June. Â Add on top of the above, he flew in from the U.K. and did it all with jet-lag. Â Yeah, that’s pretty amazing in my book.
We built Reuben a stock size 54cm Routt 45 for the task at hand and he crushed it. The spec was as follows:
ROUTT 45
*can hold up to a 47mm tire*
54 CM FRAME
*black decals
*3rd water bottle location (always an option on many of our models)
ENVE CX FORK W/12MM THRU AXLE
KING I8 HEADSET
SHIMANO ULTEGRA KIT:
*mechanical shift
*hydro brakes
*50/34 compact
*11-28 cassette
MAVIC ALLROAD WHEEL SET
FIZIK (bar, stem, post, saddle)
CLEMENT TUBLESS CLINCHER 36MM
Reuben completed the event and then came to Moots afterwards to see just how this bike was built. Â We toured our place and he met the crew that made his ride come to life. Â The video is a result of his visit with us. Â He had nothing but good to say about the ride quality and how “fresh” he felt at the end of 200 miles….if you can feel fresh at that point.
BIKE RADAR will be releasing more on the movement of gravel and will feature more insight to the ROUTT 45. Stay tuned.
