KEN’S BIG RIDE
I’ve spent 11 years in Steamboat, ridden thousands of miles around Routt county, and yet still there are dirt roads untouched and interesting routes schemed up but yet to be ridden. Our home here in Routt County sits in the corner

Towards the end of October Moots was fortunate to have STUDIO VELO (our top dealer in 2016) host a Gravel Camp in Steamboat. Scott Penzarella is one of three owners of this wonderful shop based out of Mill Valley, California……
The New ROUTT RSL & ROUTT were put to the test during the 3 day adventure. If you’ve been following Moots you’ll know that just over a year ago the company sold. Moots had been owned by the same individual for about 22 years or so. The owner at the time didn’t want to sell it to just anyone, or the highest bidder. He and his family cared deeply for cycling, the brand and the dedicated people that put hands to metal each and everyday. They cared so much that they wanted to leave us with just the right person at the helm. Finding the right person took about 5 years and like so many things that are just “right” that
A brief stint on the pavement to connect the goods of our dirt/gravel adventures. FEATURED SHOP: STUDIO VELO, MILL VALLEY, CALIFORNIA The last week of October we played host & guide to our stand our dealer from Mill Valley, California, STUDIO VELO. This shop is nestled in the small town north of the bay and has quickly risen to the top due to their passion for Moots and offering their customers an experience that cannot be beat. Did I mention they also ride a crap ton?
Sometimes riders can amaze me. Can you imagine recieving a foreign bike, putting your pedals on it, setting the saddle height and reach to somewhere that might be close to your day to day ride, then, putting a few shorter test rides on it, to then line up at the Dirty Kanza 200? Well, that is exactly what Reuben Bakker-Dyos of BIKE RADAR did in June. Add on top of the above, he flew in from the U.K. and did it all with jet-lag. Yeah, that’s pretty amazing in my book.
Today we have a friend of Moots write about his experience during his 3rd 3 PEAKS “CYCLOCROSS” RACE—
Wes Ulrich resides in Germany and has been a long time friend of our sales director Corey Piscopo.
Wes also made a special trip to Eurobike to come and ride one evening with us, he’s a great guy
and super committed cyclist. He took his new ROUTT to the test this year at 3 PEAKS
and wrote this insightful piece about his adventure.
