I have been an avid cyclist since the late 70’s first BMX, then the whole roadie thing, even up to a sort of competitive Cat 3. Then onto the joy of MTB’s and I have not left since. Growing up in the Santa Cruz mountains I was lucky enough o be at the front of the movement as it began to grow. Fast forward too many years to today, I have beg, borrowed, sold and generally finagled my way to be able to purchase a beautiful YBB, the bike I mentally caressed for many years. I’ve spent the last years building it to where I now have my ultimate dream bike. It is an oddly beautiful marriage of a Gravel, Mountain, Cross hybrid.
It has allowed me to constantly feel the joyous freedom of simply riding a bicycle, that freedom that we all felt as small kids exploring our favorite secret trails. For my 50th birthday I built a route comprised of 50 miles of flowy single track and gravel roads that would be the perfect synergistic way to celebrate my half century of being. Riding a beautiful rigid mountain bike for 5 hours on a beautiful sunny day, feeling every nook and surface nuance, around lakes and peaks, until returning to a cooler filled with gloriously cold bubbles of fermented barley. Proof indeed that God loves us and wants us to be happy!
Thank you Moots, for the skilled craftsmen and craftsladies that allow us all to live our dreams and never lose that child like joy of riding “no hands” down the middle of the street with a stupidly huge grin across our face
