He came from the land of bratwurst, cheese and beer. Moved to Steamboat for the ski life in 2010 with his telemark skis. Of course he stayed for the summers and found a wife that would help him discover the love for biking. Other activities he enjoys are- Camping Off-roading Good times with friends Moots is the place to be. You’ve really made it when you get to call Moots home. As the Spirit leads you
Aaron Walker Hometown – Born in Lawrence, KS and still a very proud Jayhawk. Time at Moots – The newest guy. What draws you to Bikes – The most elegant and efficient machine created by humans. Favorite post-ride meal – Real Mexican food & beer. Life changing moment in cycling – Watching the American Flag rise above the velodrome and hearing The National Anthem in Sydney, Australia at the 2000 Olympic Games. Knowing that as a mechanic for the US Olympic Team that I played a small role in that gold medal ride.
Name: Kelsey Hutchinson position at Moots: welder time at Moots: 3 months! from: Omaha, NE I bought an old Bianchi off of Craigslist before moving to NY, I loved exploring the boroughs in the fresh air instead of being stuck underground with everyone and their grandma. After moving back to Omaha, I started working at a bike shop and became bananas obsessed with all things in the bicycle world. (Thanks Omaha Bicycle Company, SJ & Jim) I was a fashion journalist, turned graphic design major until I toured a frame builder in Oregon and saw someone welding a frame. I immediately came back to Nebraska, quit graphic design school and enrolled in a community college to get a welding degree. Two years later, I’m working at my dream job. (Eeeeee!!) I also really like Star Wars but, ONLY the original trilogy. Hobbies: climbing, riding all of the bicycles, and trying to cook.
At Moots since the beginning (1981)…from West Bend, WI…arrived in Steamboat Springs in 1971 while bike touring…recently took up snowboarding (loves the terrain park)…first bicycle was a Moots Mountaineer…has a new one order…rides all over the world…fish or snails before a ride, Honey Stinger gingersnap waffles during, and a muskrat after..when not riding, Mr. Moots enjoys swimming. What working at Moots means to Mr. Moots:
Length of time at Moots, 11 years……came to Steamboat for his job at Moots…from Delaware…when asked what type of skier – he’ll tell you he fat bikes…first bike he can really remember is a Torker BMX, around ’89…as a kid, cycling gave Nate the opportunity to get outside and go far…current bicycles, “ I’m told to many.”…favorite Steamboat area ride is Soda Mtn…outside of Steamboat – the trails in Northern Delaware…dream cycling trip – “It would be long in both distance and time. It needs to be warm, I spend too much time riding in the cold. I would like some big hills, but would also like it to be close to a coast line. Hopefully there are lemonade stands along the way, with lots of good food stops scattered about…I’m still looking!”…Nate admires the new generation (youth), he’s impressed with their skill, ability, and enthusiasm, “Cycling has a good future, and I’m glad to be a part of it.”…pre and/or post ride food, “Come on, pizza.”…off the bike you are?, “That doesn’t happen often.”
