ROBBIE’S CACTUS GREEN MOUNTAINEER YBB PROJECT

While at The Cycling House + Moots Owners Camp in February, one of the guest (he’s also a Moots dealer) brought his freshly completed Mountaineer YBB to ride during his “down time” at camp.  Robbie is the owner of PEDALER’S FORK in Calabassas, CA.  A farm to table restaurant, with a boutique bike shop and coffee shop tied into one space.  They specialize in handcrafted items wheather food, bikes or drink.  Robbie wanted to do something special for his new build and chose the Mountaineer YBB as the starting point. It turned out to be a drool worthy build and a silky smooth ride that has Robbie gushing over the plus sized set up.

The Mountaineer is built around 27.5 + wheels and best performs with a nice 2.8 as shown.  Robbie went with Chris King 40th Anniversary bits as well, head set, hubs and bottom bracket.

The YBB unit has been a staple at Moots since its introduction in 1988….then in steel and then in titanium since 1991.  When new the unit will purge grease as it runs in.

Eagle drive train (yep, that’s a 50 on the rear), Magura Vyron eLECT seat post (remote ANT + wireless transmission)…Enve bar, stem and hoops.

After climbing Mount Lemmon on road bikes in the am, Robbie returned that evening and took this beauty for it’s first off road ride…..he came back ALL smiles.
