ALPHA 16/17 CX UPDATE-GAGE HECHT

fullsizerender-4

Gage Hecht in his first year in the U23 category came away with a silver medal in the Pan-American Cyclocross Championships October 29th.

Moots is a proud sponsor of the Alpha Bicycle Company Cyclocross Program.  We are in our second year of providing the team with the finest made titanium cyclocross bikes you can find. And when I say second year, this means that last season they raced on new frames….Over the summer they came back to Moots and we re-blasted them, put on new decals and bam! The beauty of titanium.

The season is off to a great start with the team spending the early weeks (late September and early October) mostly at Colorado races to fine tune their form for the bigger more meaningful races to come.

Over the last two weekends those bigger races started with the weekend of October 29th & 30th hosting the Pan-American Championships in Cincinnati on the 29th.  Gage Hecht has moved up from the last junior catgory of 17-18 to the full blown U23.

Gage and Brannan Fix are often found at the front of the race.

After taking that second in the U23 on Saturday he towed the line on Sunday with all the PROS of the North American Cyclocross scene. You can say he is adjusting to the field as he took a staggering 7th place on that day beating the reigning National Champion Jeremy Powers.  Pretty incredible stuff if you ask me.

Once that weekend was over the team had a chance to rest before returning to Louisville, KY just down the road the following weekend for Derby Cup weekend..  Saturday would be a C1, with all the PROS in attendance once again.  Gage was rested and landed a 6th place, just 22 seconds out of first place and just 10 seconds off the podium! Absolutely crushing!!

Gage railing a turn in the C1 Derby Cup, just ahead of Powers.

Gage has many junior national titles to his credit and people have always known he’s a talent for the future, but these results have really starting to make many a racer take notice of this young man breathing down their neck at the biggest races on the American schedule.

Along with Gage the other 4 members of the Alpha Elite Junior Team is crushing it as well.  Next time around we’ll highlight another rider.
