   Are there stem lengths that work best with certain top tube lengths? To match my position with a Vamoots CR, I would use an 11 cm stem on the 58. Thanks

   Absolutely there are stem lengths that work with certain top tube lengths, but that is all found through being fit to a bike. This is by far the best way to find the right length of stem. There used to be some stem voodoo that said things about the right length of stem will make the handlebars obscure the front axle from the rider's perspective, and I suppose that would get you in the "ballpark", but stems are like saddles and grips (or tape in your case) it's all personal preference.

   Go get fit. That will get you the right stem.

   Thanks. I am matching my position on a 98 Tuscany. I am concerned with handling characteristics. The Cr and Tuscany have same geometry within 5mm. You are right about fit. I have just dialed in the Tuscany over the years and want to start very close to it.
