G'day all,
I've been pondering a campag record re-visit for a Vamoots RSL I've ordered.
However, I've been hearing bad things about the Ultra Torque press-fit BB30 adapter cups- creaking/backing out of the shell etc. Has anyone had a positive experience with UT cranks and the press-fit system?

Rob,
The early versions of the Campy adapter cups has some issues. I believe this is now corrected and they run fine.
Another way to go would be the Enduro BB. We've had some of the Shimano versions around here as of late and can't say enough nice things about them. Check their site for a Campy version. It will cost a little more up front, but will be solid for years.

Just a note of warning. I had no issues at all with the adapter cups when running with my UT compact chainset (which I rode on for the first couple of months as I was out in San Francisco (lots of hills) but found when I got home (less hills, more racing), I couldn't fit a standard (39/53) crank on there at all, the bolts on the back of the crank (specifically the "extra" one that goes through the crank arm) wouldn't clear the chainstay. Moots were (as always) fantastically helpful and sent me a replacement frame (some issue with the chainstays on early RSL's not being "squashed" enough I think) but even then the clearance was so tight it wasn't workable. In the end (again thanks Moots) the only way I could find to run a 11spd campag standard crank was to swap the frame again for a custom one with a standard threaded BB. (Other options may have been to run a Cannondale or SRAM crank with my campag groupset but I didn't really want to go that route). Even with the threaded BB, the clearance is tight, but the bike has been riding faultlessly for 6 months now and I cannot give high enough praise to Moots after sales service for sorting it out.

I'm going the custom route but have opted to stick with the press-fit 30 BB. Glad you got your set-up sorted. Hopefully Moots have taken your experiences and applied a solution going forward.
I guess it pays to tell Moots how you intend to build the frame up with respect to components. I have always run Salsa seat-post clamps on my bikes and I'm glad I informed Matt of that fact and that I'd like the option of using one on the Vamoots as the mock-up of my frame would have only allowed a seat-post clamp of no more than 12mm to be used if it were to clear the top tube- a salsa clamp has a depth of about 17mm........
