Hi all, just a quick question:
Would Sram XX 28/42 156 Q factor be a problem with the RigorMootis chain stay?
I have looked at the available pages but couldn't find any answer.
Many thanks.

The Q-factor wouldn't be a problem but the small chainring would nearly be hitting the chain stay. If you go with the 26/39 you will have the clearance you need.
XC_racing,
On the 26'' wheel Rigor Mootis you can run the 28/42 XX combo. It's tight but will run without issue. The 26/39 XX combo needs to be used on the Mooto X (29er) ...the chainstays are different between the two wheel sizes.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
thanks,
Jon@Moots
JonC and Mark M, many thanks.
JonC, a few more questions for you please:
Has the chainstay changed on 26er Rigor Mootis over the years? as the frame i bought though new, about 2-3 years old.
Can both low and high clamp front derailleurs work?
And the narrow 156 Q factor will be fine?
Many thanks.
The chainstays on a 2-3 year old Rigor won't be different to todays. Both low and high clamp will work....
The 156 Q factor will work as well.
thanks,
Jon@Moots
I've been running XX 156Q 42/28 on my 1999 YBB all year. Get the new red gutter seal bb. The old design will brake no matter how diligent you are about maintenance. Though, SRAM has been great about replacements. Also check the torq on the chain ring bolts. In fact pull the bolts and put lock tight on them. There was a issue with this as QBP ran out of chain ring bolts as did SRAM this past summer. Yet SRAM sent me a new chain and one used bolt to get me to a race. I can't say enough good things about SRAM! Don't ride a XX unless you're prepared to buy the group. Everyone I know who has ridden it either wants it bad or buys it. You just can't cross chain it no matter how hard you try. It's to bad SRAM RED doesn't shift this well. Are you listening SRAM?
Happy trails!
Doc Moots, It's funny you mention loose chain ring bolts. I never thought about checking how tight they were on a brand new crank and one day I am riding down a trail and I start hearing my chain rubbing against the front derailleur on every rotation. I look down at it and as I'm pedaling and the inner chain ring looks like its bent. Turns out every bolt was loose and the darn thing was ready to fall off. Luckily I had a multi tool with me and was able to tighten them back up but it took a while trying to turn that big tool in a tight space. Luckily there was no harm done to me or more importantly, the bike.
