Curt Gowdy is a great place to ride.
Jon, it sounds like a Moots tandem is in order...a great way to spend cycling time with the little ones.
My son is finally tall enough that we were able to ditch the HEAVY child stoker kit and just use some crank arm shorteners on the tandem. We've raced 2 Super D races this year and he has ROCKED!
