Just wondering if any other Moots riders will got into the Dakota Five-O this year. Sign up started at 7 am this morning and 600 spots were sold out by 11:30 am! I'll be rolling for my 5th year. Every year I've bested my previous year's time (save for some mechanical issues two years ago) setting my best time last year. Hoping to be under 5 hours this year.

MemberI have wanted to do the 5-0 for many years, unfortunately it's the same weekend as the Steamboat Stage Race, a Moots sponsored event run by Steamboat Velo. I've only heard good thing about the event, have fun this year. No doubt that's why it sells out so fast. I'm signed up for the Laramie Enduro, and the Gunnison Growler, I hope to be able to get fit enough to finish the Growler without killing myself. This early spring is sure helping.
How's the riding up in SD? We are expecting to be on dirt here well before the end of April. Great for us bikers, bad for ski corp, they will be requiring all skiers to upload, and download on the gondola starting Monday, and the announced that only 77 of 139 trails will be open to skiers. None of which allow skiing below mid-mountain. So much for winter, bring on the trails!

Having lived in Colorado for 10 years (albeit on the Front Range) and having ridden all over CO, I can honestly tell you that the riding here in the Black HIlls rivals anything I rode in CO. Plenty of climbing (which of course leads to descending), the Five-O has over 6000' climbing. Beautiful views and singletrack that has just about everything you could want, everything from smooth and wide open to rocky and tight, technical stuff and everything in between.
