Hello Moots Forum,
I'm contemplating the purchase of a Vamoots CR with the addition of S & S couplers, for use mainly as a travel bike. My usual top tube length is 59.5 - 60 cm, which would put me on a 62 cm frame, the largest size. I'm 189 cm tall (6 foot 2.5 inches), and have my saddle 83 cm above the bottom bracket.
My question is: given a frame this large, would it comfortably fit into the standard S & S hardshell case? Would I have to remove the cranks?
Any advice/comments appreciated.

My guess is you will need to remove the crank. I have a 56cm VaMoots I don't remove the crank but it would be better if I did. I run the standard 68mm bottom bracket with an FSA Crank with external bearings and it has the crank puller washer. It would be easy enough to remove and NOT really add to any of the hassle of the build up or take down.

I have a Zinn Ti with S&S couplers (wish I had the CR). It has a 54.5 TT but there is plenty of room in the case for TT length. I don't think a larger frame will be any wider than a small one so I don't think the cranks would be an issue. I only remove my pedals, seat and the handlebars/front brake. I have used hard and soft cases but the best I have found is this one:

Yes, the crank would have to come off to fit in the case for that size of frame. Not a huge deal with modern crank designs using one to two bolts.

Can't speak for Moots but I am guessing Moots doesn't have Coupled Frames sitting on the shelves. When I ordered my SL I was told it would be 6-8 weeks, I had it the next day because it was on the shelf just waiting for me (it was heaven). The good news is nobody else has S&S Coupled Bikes sitting on the shelves either so you made the right choice waiting on a Moots. You will love it; it’s my favorite road bike frame. My VaMoots and I are heading to Boston at the end of the Month.
I don't know if Moots sells the accessories, but make sure you buy (3) compression members, TSA Net, (3) cable splitters and Tube Covers. I have never used the soft case but I really like the hard case. I had my VaMoots Post coupled by someone else, but I had the hard case shipped to builder instead of myself and had the frame shipped to me in the hard case. I don’t know if Moots would do that for you but food for thought.
Another great item: I have a Garmin 705 and you can go to MapmyRide.com and download thousands of routes by real people world wide. It is perfect for a travel type bike. I have had the opportunity to ride with some great folks from this forum and others, but the GPS allows me to ride anywhere without a riding buddy to show you the good spots.
