   JonC,

   Doing a lot more touring type riding now with the mootour and having to leave it locked to railings etc. outside cafes and hostels, the insurance company have insisted on a lock off a list that they provide.

   Sadly because of the value of my bike the lock is actually heavier than my fully loaded, very expensive, very beautiful, very stealable lightweight touring bike. (it is also on the recommended list for motorbikes) It is a bit of a headache actually.

   Any chance of making a lightweight lock from ti? using twisted strands of ti or something? one that even without the insurer's list i know the bike is safe? Any other advice apart from that?

   Not a very smart video. You can lift his locked bike straight up over the parking meter. The best I've found is Kryptonite locks. If you want a hernia pick up the fugeddaboutit lock. Damn thing must weigh 10 pounds. i find a u lock and a cable lock generally deter thieves but...... a determined thief will always defeat a lock of any kind given time and privacy.
