I am about to push the button on a new RSL and I have just come across a stunning TiCJ for an awesome price......I have ridden the RSL but never the CJ. Am I mad to even consider the CJ ??? I know this is a Moots forum, but there are so few people who have ridden the RSL in the UK its hard to get an honest comparison !!!!!!!!!

I have not ridden the CJ but they certainly get good reviews. The RSL is a bit of a different animal. It is designed as a race bike, oversized tubes, press fit BB30, etc., so it is a bit of apples and oranges comparison.

I have a Ti Crown Jewel and an RSL, and there really is no comparison. Don't get me wrong, the TJC is a beautiful bike, but it's more like a Vamoots than an RSL. Super smooth ride, handles beautifully, great build quality, etc. I haven't ridden one, but I would suspect that the closer comparison to the RSL in the IF line-up would be the new IF Ti Factory Lightweight.
Imo, the RSL represents a whole 'nother level of performance in ti bikes. If you want the supercharged snap of a Tour-level carbon bike with the smooth ride of ti, get the RSL. Of course, if the price is right, it wouldn't stop me from getting the TCJ as well... ;-)
P.S. I must've been typing at the same time as ggw, and I agree with him 100%. It's a bit of apples and oranges—both are sweet. The RSL is designed to be a pure-bred race bike, which isn't for everyone, but that's why there is a spectrum of choices (no pun intended).

tbill, that is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. I have ridden the FLW and RSL and they are both absolute screamingly brilliant bikes, IMHO the FLW shading the RSL, but it is absolutely fractional, but I found an RSL second hand (but as new) for about 60% of new cost and a NOS IF TiCJ at half price, so separated by £400 (I'm in UK) but still heaps cheaper than a TiFLW (which was discounted, but only in green which wasn't really my colour of choice), so for me it was a no brainer in the FLW v RSL comparison due to the price differential, but with the CJ being even a bit cheaper, I just wanted to hear that it was a different bike to the RSL, I hoped you would say it was and the explanation you have given is absolutely what I was hoping for. I am looking for a Ti version of a carbon bike, and I agree the RSL is exactly that with bells on !!!
