Restoring 1993/1994 YBB - anybody seen any logo pictures or have any info?

New here, new to bikes, and new to Moots. Decided to restore a bike as a new hobby and a good friend recommended a Moots. Found the perfect bike, now I need to find more info. The PO said its a 1993. It had a non-original Judy fork installed. I couldn't locate an OE 1-1/8" threaded Mag 21 fork after months of looking. I did find a threadless Mag 21 SL Ti fork which Moots used in 1994. I also found an old style threadless stem but had to buy a new Chris King headset. So I am upgrading the 1993 YBB to 1994 specs now which is OK I guess. Im still keeping my Moots quill stem and XTR headset in case I do ever find that elusive 1-1/8 threaded Mag 21 fork.

I plan to send the frame back to Moots for a much needed refinish. The few remaining stickers are not like the new stickers and logo. My Moots has the green alligator on a bike sticker right above the YBB spring. I think it said Titanium on the top bar but all that remains is Tit. There is no head badge or holes for one. When I send my frame back, I will loose the vintage stickers when its media blasted. Any ideas how I can find the old stickers? Anybody have pictures of the old logos? Maybe I can have some stickers custom made if I can get some good pictures? Any help is much appreciated.

Go over to http://mombat.org/Moots.htm to see how some of the older Moots looked.

Yes, you will lose your vintage decals. Moots may have some, otherwise you may have to scour eBay or have some made.

Welcome and thanks for getting into the Moots family.

As stated above we can do the finish work and make that rig look pretty again but you will lose the vintage decals. We don't have sets from back then as they degrade over time ...they dry out and lose their adhesive ability. You may be able to find the older font online and duplicate at your local decal maker.

I personally had a '93...it was my first Moots. I still hear from the person that bought it from me and he tells me it's still on the trail.

Thanks for the info teamfubar. My alligator decals are in good shape. I wonder if they could be taped over to preserve them during blasting?

Jon, do you happen to recall if your '93 said 'Titanium' towards the rear of the top bar? Did it have a 'YBB' decal towards the front of the top bar? I haven't found any pictures of this vintage to figure out decal locations or sizes. Does Moots keep a photo album or old catalogs I could look at next time I am in Steamboat?

Yes, in '93 you would see "Titanium" towards the rear of the top tube...towards the front you would see YBB...I'll dig around and see if I can find any photos. At the moment I'm on the road and don't have access to the older photos.
