Will this combination work? I have 2010 MootoX YBB that was made before the changes. So can anyone confirm that 3x10 2011 XTR will work without issues? I think I can return my cranks and front der for 3x10 versions and keep the shifters, rear der, chain and cassette? Thoughts?
What about just swapping out the cranks for SRAM XX cranks? Will they work with a shimano drive train?

Any 3x10 should work fine with your bike. The reason some of the 2x10 stuff doesn't work is the rings are bigger than the 1 and 2 rings on your normal crankset, plus they are in a slightly different position laterally (they fall approximately where the gaps between your rings would be on a 3x10 crankset) to let you run all 10 cogs with each ring.
And, the Sram XX cranks should work fine with the XTR set-up.

In doing some research last evening, looks like I can't just swap out the cranks for 3x10. Apparently there is a capacity limit on this group and the XTR 3x10 cranks require a specific front der, rear der, and 11-34 cassette.
I think that I also read that the XTR 2x10 stuff only works with other XTR stuff. I'll do some more digging and report back with my findings. Thanks for your response.

No, you cannot run the Sram XX crank on the pre-October 2010 frame. The chainstay bend and location will not allow the clearance.

Sram will work with the 26/39 tooth combo.
Running a 2 x 10 system will limit your chainring options either way....but like gearguywb said....if you spin out a 38 x 11 on a 29er you are really flying....

Front der is 34.9mm.
Sorry don't have any experience witht the 135 x 12...
Frames from that date are designed around an 80mm fork. Stick with that for best handling.
