Seems possible that there could be more "flats" showing up than usual... "uh, hey, I got a flat.. can I just use one of those?" "What do you mean I have to change the flat if it's 2 hrs before the race??"

bigwheels,
Really great to see you in Wisconsin! Thanks for coming out and always a pleasure to talk with you.
Thanks for the yells on Sunday.....that hurt.
Planning for next year already. A Moots nationals rally!!
Talk to you soon,
Jon@Moots
I just heard a great Moots story tonight. I mistaking thought that the neutral support Moots bikes at CX nationals were supplied by Moots. An easy assumption since it is a great company that treats it emplyees and customer graciously. Nope, Shimono coughed up it's own money to buy the frames from Moots. Turns out the frames Shimamo had used in the past had only lasted one season. Shimamo wanted a frame that would last at least five years. The person who told me this built me a YBB 12 years ago, and knew I had not been nice to my YBB frame. (He might have worked for Shimano) I sold my YBB last summer for more than I paid new in 1999 and purchased a 2012 MX RSL. Now I pretty sure Shimano could have procured free frames from other mfg but they purchased frames from Moots. In the long run a Moots is inexpensive. As for my 2012 MX RSL, RSL really stand for Rocket Speed of Light. My five year old told me that so it has to be true. And remewber, the only thing better than a Moots is two Moot's
Cheer!

Doc Moots,
Thanks for the shout out and the story behind those "pit Moots". Yes, Shimano approached us in the Fall of 2011 for a stable of Cyclocross bikes. We are not big enough to give 5-6 frames away, so they offered to pay for them....flattering for sure and really nice for racers in a pinch. They will mostly live in New England, as Shimano is the title sponsor for the big series. ...but you never can tell where you will see them. I'm trying to nail down a concret schedule of those bike and will be posting when I have it.
As you note....those frames should last a good long while.
Enjoy!
