I have read and learnt a lot through the forum already. Thank you.
I just have put an order in for my first MOOTS frame. A Psychlo X YBB. I want to cycle dirt road epics, long distance on road and gravel (supported touring and racing in Africa and Asia) and some mountain climbing. Probably no single trails.
My whole build follows the 3 principles:
1. Most durable
2. Most reliable
3. Weight + Easy to service on the road
So far I have the Psychlo X YBB frame (on order), Moots stem and seat post, BB7 disc brakes, brooks saddle, handlebars and wheelset(DT SWISS TK540 with Hope hubs).
What do you guys think which fork would be better?
A) Salsa La Cruz Cyclocross Fork 700c
Durable, reliable but heavy steel fork.
From my Charge Plug and my surly LHT I know the steel fork has a bit of flex which helps with fatigue, hurting wrists over multiple days in the saddle.
B) 3T Luteus Team Cyclocross Carbon Fork Disc tapered - seems to be the fork a few of you have used. Will it be too stiff?
Is it durable enough (crashing etc)
C) other disc fork?
Groupset: I thought about Ultegra first, but I really like the SRAM Red on my Cannondale roadie. Also the the wifes roadie and the MTB have SRAM. So far they all heve shifted very nicely.
Therefore I was contemplating to go SRAM red 2012 39/52 with WiFLi RD 11-32, apparently shifts even nicer than my old Red 2010.
Is red the most durable and reliable? Sorry guys no Campy for me.
What are your experiences with forks and groupos?
