I think this topic may have been covered in an old thread, but the archives are not accessible.
For those of you with an older Psychlo-X (pre-'09 or whenever the chainstay was modified for more clearance), what cranksets are you using? Can you get enough clearance to run a 39t chainring with a Shimano/SRAM crank? If not, what's the max chainring size that you are able to run? For Campy, there isn't enough clearance for a 39t chainring, at least not with UT.

As you have found the older completely round 7/8'' chainstays will not work with a crank set with outboard bearings and a 39t inner ring. It is possible to use older style bb's and get the 39t to work. Back when Octalink & ISIS where around we had spindle lenght choices and could run a longer 112mm spindle. These days your best choice is going to be a compact bolt pattern of 110mm with a 36 inner & 46 outer if you are looking for pretty good cross gearing. Sram, Shimano & Campy are making compact units that will work with you frame.
