Are disk brakes a viable option on a Vamoots? I have a friend who is like 6'5" and a big boy. He loves my Vamoots but wants to know if he can get disk brakes added?
Thanks

rokataje,
Yes they are a viable option. We have done several...

Can disk brakes be added to an existing frame ???
If so, about how much to add ???
rokataje,
At this point we are not ready to offer the disc mount as an add-on option to existing frames until we have really dialed the tooling and components have settled on a more standard set up.
The tricky thing with the disc mount on the Vamoots is the clearance betwen rotor and seat stay, as the seat stays come off the drop out at a more inward angle.
The Vamoots we have done in the past have used our mono-stay rear end from the cross bike as it has bends that allow for better clearance.
We will be moving along this year with a nice system to be able to offer disc on road bikes. But for now we are investigating the best route to go.
Thanks,
Jon@Moots
I had no idea you could do that. I just saw the new Colnago C59 disk (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/tech-colnago-launch-c59-disc) and was interested if Moots could do something similar?
That's EXACTLY what I meant. BU_TI_FUL. I want those disk brakes on my VAMOOTS.
micjohns,
At this point we are not ready to offer the disc option on our road frames. I can tell you we are working towards tooling and seat stay designs that will allow us to offer. Keep in mind this is a long way off.....about a year on the road bikes.
That is a sweet rig!
Thanks,
