This stand over measurement has me somewhat confused with the Moots 29r HT frames. At 5’8” and an inseam of 31.7” most if not all dealers put me on a 16.5 to 17” size frame (based on a ETT length of 23-23.7”). But with a Moots 17 frame, the measured stand over is still a whopping 31.4 (Moot-X, RSL, 23 ETTL, 100mm fork).
Most of the other frames I’ve looked at come in at least 1” lower. Not sure how this is possible because most HT 29r frames in that size are using the same length head tube, so the top tube height at the Head Tube junction (weldment) should be very similar, no?
So, is this a typical measurement inconsistency to where everyone is measuring? I guess my real question is whether the higher Moots stand over (or where it is measured) will work for my inseam length? I really want the 23-23.5" ETTL so the 16 size is just too small.
Trying to buy a frame without swinging a leg over is more challenging than I had originally thought.
Anyone have any similar body size measurements that can shine some light?
Hope I explained it well.
