OK - I made a cataclysmic mistake the other night cutting the steerer tube on the fork for my new Vamoots CR. In 15 years I have build no less than 10 bikes and at least a dozen installed forks without a steerer tube mistake...until now. Anyway, my absolutely perfect, pristine ENVE made Moots fork has wayyyyy too short a steerer tube for my frame. If anyone has interest above fork with a 21.7cm steerer tube, I will sell this super cheap! As I figure it, for anyone using a CK NoThreadset, a stem with 45mm of steerer clamp (ala Moots Open Road) and a 5mm spacer above the stem, this will accommodate a 13.6cm head-tube. If you are running a zero stack height headset, then add another 31.4mm of useable steerer. These forks retail from a Moots dealer for about $400. I will ship it Priority to your door for half. Pics available on request. Ordering a new ENVE on monday, so if I don't sell it, it will be a really expensive 1) decoration in my shop and 2) reminder of just how dim-witted I can be!!!

MTBDad, sorry to hear that. Someone with a small frame should be able to make use of it...

Perhaps Jon will chime in, but unless Moots changed course at the last minute my understanding is that Moots sources the forks directly from the factory, not from Enve. Iirc, the factory happens to build forks for Enve (and Trek, among others), but the forks aren't Enve forks.

    MTBDAD,
Ah yes, the dreaded mis-cut steerer tube. I've been there myself. Measure twice, cut once. Even as a pro mechanic it happens to the best of us.

We have more Moots road forks in stock if you'd like to call us on Monday and get another..... And just to be clear as tbill says above, our Moots forks are not made by Enve. They are designed by us, and built for us through a top carbon builder overseas.

    Thanks, have a great Sunday.

Regarding the Moots fork on the RSL, is the steerer tube meant to have a consistent wall thickness or is it thicker on one side and thinner on the other. Sort of like the outside is round, but the inside is more egg shaped. I hope that makes sense.

    crank,
The steerer tube wall thickness should be consistent on all sides.

    Thanks,

Okay. Mine definitely isn't. I'll ring the local distributor tomorrow.

    REALLY?!?!

Mark me off the list for one of those. Are there no north American or western Europe makers of quality carbon fiber products.

Moots, I know this is a very difficult thing to avoid but have you tried?

    Thanks Jon.

I’ll try the Moots fork first, then maybe the Enve 1.0 after a few months, if I feel I want to take offf the 60g difference and/or experience a possibly different feel and handling.
