The mountain bike thread got me thinking (dangerous usually). Just had a set of sweet tubulars built up on King hubs fitted with 27's. Anyone tried a wider tire on the Vamoots RSL? I would try them but in the middle of a move! Bike is here in NC, wheels are in KC!!!

The 27's will be a tight squeeze into the RSL....this past spring and early summer I was running the Challenge Roubaix tire in a clincher in my older Vamoots SL....they are listed as 27's and I had just enough room...

Tour of the Battenkill is right around the corner and I'm wondering if anyone has tried the 27 Pave's Tubulars on a Vamoots RSL yet . . . It's time to buy the tires, and before laying down $250 I thought I'd check back in. While I am very excited about my epic new frame and bombproof C35s, Pave 27s would make the whole setup a dream come true.

The 27's are a bit too tight....we've been running a 25c tubular on the RSL with good clearance.
Tour of Battenkill sounds and looks very sweet/hard.

Yep, the Challenge is a great tire and I rode it for the early spring time last year...I was able to fit it into my older Vamoots SL frame, but just...
There are starting to be good 24's & 25's on the market that ride nice and give that big tire ride quality that work really well with the RSL set up.....

I like the 24 Paves because you can get them without that silly looking green stripe, wish they made the 27 that way too.
btw, I've been using Challenge Grifo cross tubulars (on my PX) and luv em, I was using FMB and Dugast but finally got wise and realized I didn't need to spend a mint on them when the Challenge tires are just as good (imho).
