The right tool for the right job:
The Shimano cable cutters are by far the best! Have a whole bench full of Park but always Shimano on the cable cutter reference.
The best . . . Felco C-7. Prices vary on the Web. You may find a used one on E-bay for a good price. They last forever.
so far we have 3 different opinions on which is best, can you tell us why you think your choice is better?
I use both at work.. Plus on the Park alsways a clean cut for sure, I like the crimp end better than Shimano. Minus its heavy and kinda bulky..
Shimano is also a nice clean cut and alot lighter.. The cable crimp I dont like as much as park.. You cant go wrong with either..
Shimano would be the choice if you use a shop apron and keep your tools in the pouches..
You won't go wrong with either the Shimano or the Felco. Both cut very well, and you would probably have to abuse both before you dull the blades. I've never used the Park; it's probably not bad either. The Felco cutters are heavier than the Shimano cutters, and heft is a characteristic I like in tools. They also fit and feel better in my hand, too.
Felco C-7. I've had them for almost 18 years, hundreds of bike builds...always a great cut. Two words:
lol Jon, I was talking with my mom over the weekend and somehow we got onto the topic of gardening (she's got a green thumb), and she mentioned that she uses nothing but Felco tools. In her words 'they are the best..."
Nuff said... Felco it is.
Thx everybody for your input.
