Mikej & tbill,
Thanks for the questions and input. I'll do my best to shed light on the matter.
When we first introduced the Vamoots RSL, we had in mind the matching fork going with each frame as a package. Most really like the look of the painted fork, some did not. We can understand personal wants in aesthetics. So, some folks wanted to put an Edge fork on the frame with the 367mm a-c. That is okay, but keep in mind; all industry component makers and frame builders operate with a window of tolerance. Head sets for example...do you use a King or Crank brothers zero stack? The difference there is 3.7mm of stack. Even fork makers have a window of tolerance with the a-c measurements. So in building our frames we keep this in mind.
We build within a tolerance to best match the common component selections on the market. So, yes running an Edge/Enve fork on the RSL is fine. Running it with the shorter stack height headset, you might feel it is just a touch quick. But for the most part we see hi-end Chris King headsets going into hi-end Moots bikes.
In the end, we did not tweak the build of the frame once the Alpha Q forks went away, we did that during the proto type stage of the design so we would be compliant with the most common items within a window of tolerance.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
