   I have the old style layback seat post. It seems with standard saddle rails that the trays or whatever they are called come together at max tightness and do not hold he saddle rails tight enough so it creaks occasionally under pressure.

   I have thought about taking some beer can aluminum or something and try to shim the rails so they have a slightly greater diameter and are fastened better.

   Seems like a hack. Has anyone solved this already.

   I've done the beer can shim and it works. You can also get new innards for the clamp frommoots to solve the problem if shims are too hack for you. Or upgrade to thenew chich post.

   I cut a piece of drywall sanding screen, to increase friction. It worked.

   That being said, I'd move onto the Cinch.

   Beer can works great for stuff like that. I had to shim my shock mounting bolts on my old Super-V back in the 90's and that baby stayed TIGHT for years of hard riding. ;)

   We have replacement "biscuits" that you can order. Older ones that have moved over time will "round" off the edges of the knurling and cause them not to grip as much as they did when new.
