    A few questions:

    1) The set screws on the lockout collar...one is way out, and one is screwed in past flush. Where should they be? As it is, I can move the lockout collar a bit w/ my fingers. Should it be more snug than that?

    2) I can't see any rubber wiper between the lockout collar and frame. Did it get crushed into oblivion after a few bottom outs or is it just that slim?

    3) When I pick up the bike by the saddle, I can see the YBB extend a bit, as if it is pre-loaded under the normal weight of the bike. Is that typical?

    4) It doesn't seem to take much force at all at the top of the stroke to compress it a bit. It almost seems too easy, but I have no basis for comparison.

What is the default spring in an off-the-shelf build? Yellow or red?

For background, the frame is about ~7 months old.

    Thanks in advance!

    Kevin,

    Thanks for the questions....some answers:

    1) The set screws should be just past flush. Use a 2mm turn the one that is way out in a bit to match the other. The lock out collar should be snug in place.

    2) The wiper seal is kept inside the lip of the lock out collar. Hard to see from the outside, especially if there is dirt/trail grim.

    3) A bit of movement is somewhat normal when picking up the bike by the saddle....

4&5)) The Ybb is fairly sensitive, which makes it a small bump eater. Based on frame size, which gives us an average for rider weight yours could be soft or firm depending on your body weight. Frame size also dictates spring yellow or red. In the 16'' and smaller we spec the Red (softer) and 17'' and bigger we spec the Yellow (firmer).

A question for you would be: What size frame do you have and how much do you weigh? Sorry 2 questions.

Let me know the above and we can go from there...

    thanks,

    Jon@Moots

    K29er,

This may be off topic, but I happen to have a set of Moots Ti riser bars that came off a YBB frame, that I have for sale. If interested please send me a PM. Thanks!

Thanks for the info Jon. I'll get that set screw in a bit.

To answer your ?s...I'm sitting around 185 on a 19" frame, therefore, I assume it is yellow.

One more question...how do you know if the set screws on the lockout collar are in too far? or not far enough?

    tks,
    Kevin

Update: Rallied for an hour today. The set screw in the lockout collar that was once too far out has returned to its position...backed out. The screw that was once presumably @ the right depth appears to have screwed itself in too far and looks to have scored the slider. And the lockout collar again has some wiggle to it.

Perhaps my set screws need some loc-tite? What are those set screws contacting?
