Are you bringing your cross bike on the trip? At that time of October trails could be really good, but if not the cross routes around the valley are primo.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Safe travels.

Jon - I just acquired up a nice, used Compact. 55 M 6945. Could you enlighten me on the completion date?

Also, the yellow tag on that came with my PsychloX didn't have a Born on Date filled out. Could you tell me this too so I can have this in my records as well?

I am going to try and make it by the factory in a few weeks when I'm making a 12 day MTB trip across Northern CA, Sun Valley, Idaho and Crested Butte!

Estes Park is only a few hours away....make it happen.

@JonC-
Yours is a job that most of us can only dream about. Spending all day with Moots products and the boss brings the beer on fridays? Watching your videos, ride reports, and beer offerings has me dreaming of moving to Colorado someday... Maybe a trip to Este Park with a side trip to the factory might console me for a while...

For those of us who don't have it ready at hand, Fat Tire is welcome treat!!

Gents,

First bike from Moots was a steel road bike in 1981....the Fat Tire variety did not come along until 1983.... we could do Skinny Dip Ale or a nice Trippel....or you could stop by Moots sometime and see what we stock in our fridge....we share on Friday afternoons. Seriously, the prez just stopped by my office and told me he put two nice 6 packs in the cooler for later today.....and it's only 8:37 am MST....this Friday just got a lot better.

Okay gang, I have to take exception with the PBR suggestion. Come on, we're talking about a MOOTS here not some molded piece of plastic that will brake the first time you crank to many watts into it.

And though the six pack of beer suggestion show great respect and gratitude for all the outstanding artists at Moots, (to call them workers or welders or finishers or ... is an insult to their true talent) I better beer than PBR is needed.

Because MOOTS started with Fat Tire bikes, so Kent could get around, I suggest a six pack of another Colorado product. Fat Tire Beer.

Ride often, & stay muddy.

Cheers!

Dom,

Moots doesn't even use the "M" anymore. They have moved on to an "O". They will end up spelling out "MOOTS" or at least "MOTS" after 9,999X3+1 frames they build or 29,998. I think its pretty cool, I have a lot of "M" frames I guess I need to get an "O" frame now. Mooto-X or RSL tough decisions eny meany miny moe.

Domestique,
The serial number does not contain a year the frame was made. Only by calling the number in can we determine when it was made. The first number tells what size the frame is....in your case it's a 55cm..."M" stands for Moots...5348 is the number we use to track it. In your case the frame was finished on November 2, 2004.....that was a Tuesday, election day of that year.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

My brother asked me what year his Compact was built and I couldn't give an accurate answer, I think it was 2005 but I'm not sure. Is there a way to determine this by the serial number stamped on the underside of the BB shell? It's: 55M5348
Thx,
