Well, to address Satellite's comment: the only reason the Cinco works well on the DH for me is that I am, ahem, "gravitationally challenged" and it really doesn't have much choice. I go faster down than up...end of story.

But, I agree w/ you Exie. The bike is a stellar XC/marathon/AM light machine, but it doesn't do the stuff on either end of the spectrum great. If I raced a lot I wouldn't use the Cinco, but get something a bit "racier" like a YBB or a Zirkel (or their Mooto equivalent). If I was going to be doing a lot of lift assisted stuff, I'd get something bigger and burlier. BUT for all that stuff in between (label it what you will, it is just mountain biking) the Cinco is GREAT!

Get well soon.

Fair comments. The title would read better "Exie no good at DH"

I normally stay clear of that sorta thing. I've mostly used the bike for XC and some AM stuff. It's an awesome bike.

Part of the problem could have been on my first run, I got over a meter of air off the same lip, and cleared the whole section, the bike is so light it flys! So on the next run, I was trying to keep it on the ground and was on the brakes trying to scrub off some speed. I should have just let it go and launched it!

It's a young mans thing I think, you need no fear to ride that stuff!

Exie,

The Cinco works pretty good on the downhills for Teamfubar. Mountain biking is a hazerdous sport always ride within your and equipments limits. Godspeed on your recovery.

Maybe this thread should be titled; Exie no good at DH, the Cinco did not cause you to go too fast off the jump. In fact maybe it's too nice a ride and inspired a false confidance that led you to go too fast off the jump.

Get well. And think about body armor.

Ouch! I stay away from anywhere that requires body armor to ride a bike!!!

Hey Folks,

This may seem like a silly post, but for anyone that may be getting ideas, this doesnt work.

I tried an "easy" DH day on the weekend and it didnt end well. I knew I was in trouble when I saw guys strapping on the body armour and full-face helmets.

I cleared 3-4 runs, but on the last run I just had too much speed and launched off a big rock drop. I've now got 2 fractured ribs to show for it. A reminder that the Cinco is an unbelievable bike, but not for that kind of riding.
