Quick update for Fubar -

I just stripped the badges off my bike as they were looking pretty rough. I stared at it for a while before deciding it looked a bit plain & generic, most notably on the Cinch post. With mine having the Moots stem + post + frame and silver alloy rear triangle, without the stickers, it all gets a bit too .... err ... silvery ?

So I had a new sticker kit ready to go and I've just stuck them on and it looks super slick again now.

No stickers is a clean, but more generic look.
New stickers are much better than old rough stickers.

Edit: What I'm getting at is, No stickers is probably less of an issue for MLR as he has the black rear triangle, black post and stem, so the frame does stand out as a feature more.

PS. Will still send the frame back to Moots later this year, my frame looks polished in parts and satin in others. Best left to the experts to re-finish this.

Nice build! Would look good with the red Moots decals, but I would ride it.

Congrats on the nice looking build, I dig the anno shock rocker! I wouldn't worry about what anyone says about the platforms (even though I run clipless, I learned a LONG time ago on platforms), there is a nice article in the new issue of Dirt Rag about the pros and cons of running platforms.

A couple of personal opinions, which obviously are like a__holes, everyone has one.

First, mostly directed to Exie, I think de-badging any bike, but especially a bike like a Moots is akin to erasing the signature off of a Van Gogh. Sure, people in-the-know will know what bike it is, but the general public won't. There are a lot of hard working people in Steamboat that deserve credit for their creation. Again, my opinion, so I don't wanna get in any verbal war over this.

Second, regarding the tires, have you thought about going to a Schwalbe Racing Ralph (or similar)? You could get a bit more volume and still keep the weight down (besides, you've got 10 oz. to spare with the platforms and still be below your 23 lb. goal. 8^) ). I've been running them on my 29'er and I LOVE 'em! I'd think their 26" version would be perfect for that bike!

Lastly, I LOVE the fact you're running Grip Shift! I've got it on my Cinco and I'll go 10 when I get enough coin saved and dump the 10 speed triggers on my 29'er too!

Very nice indeed!

Nothing wrong with flat pedals! I went back to flat's about a year ago and loving the flexibility. For a start I can wear my comfy shoes, but it gives me alot of flexibility to ride a skate park, light DH, XC or whatever.

The frame looks really clean de-badged. I've been thinking of doing this with my Cinco, but want to send the frame back to Moots for a re-finish.

You've obviously got different taste to me, I'm not really a grip-shift kinda guy, and the carbon post doesn't really work for me, but if that works for you, more power to ya!

29ner is kinda right, when he says its a mis-match. But I think its a conflict that most Zirkles and Cinco's have. For example, I've also got 180mm rotors, but then I went a tripple ring up front. The mismatch is I've only got the 1 bike, but I make the most of it and ride it everywhere.

So there is some DH influence and some XC influence and even some Road influence in my build, but that works for where/how I ride.

Last time I weighed mine, it came in around 10.5kg ... but its not really built for weight, its built for life.

PS. I like the red ano pivot triangles it matches your red theme.

Very sweet bike. Platform pedals...I don't know the first thing about, but platform pedals? The tires, super fast, expensive, way cross country oriented - as in smooth, flowy, little and easy technical 'stuff' - no sidewall protection....on a 4" travel bike? Uhmm, you must know something I don't - but I'd be very careful diving into corners and bombing rock gardens - seems like a mismatch to me.

I popped a similar tire a few weeks ago - boy, the front blew quick and I was down in a flash. The terrain was way over what I thought it would be - at least that particular section. A tube went in (I run the Stan's) - but there is no way to not get that glop all over when it blows. Anyway....

But, a nice, nice bike.

Here is my recent build that was completed for my MOOTS Zirkel. My goal was sub 23 lbs with flat pedals, but I was not willing to sacrifice any of the integrity of the parts just to save a few grams (not an easy task without spending some decent coin). All stock parts were changed on the frame and I also had a local company custom Anodize every piece of aluminum (including part of the frame) to one uniform red color…IMO the results are great and I truly love this beast!
