Poff, thanks for the heads-up on the grommet size. I think a couple of grommets come with the stock wiring harness when you order it.

Based on the information released so far, the new Shimano seat post battery should fit into any standard sized post. There will be no mods required, you will just need the proper wiring harness for your frame. The new battery will not be compatible with the "old" Dura Ace Di2. Only Ultegra Di2 and the new Dura Ace 9070. Someone from Moots can chime in but you will not need the external battery mount if you are using a seat post battery. You would tell Moots what option(s) you want. If you have a seat post battery but still want the external mount just in case I'm sure they would do that but it would not be necessary.

Just heard from my LBS that my RSL is shipping! Hope to be rocking the RSL soon.

The upcoming version of DI2 (9070) has the option of integrating the battery into the seat post. I have two questions related to this:

(1) Can Shimano's new (seat post compatible) version of the battery be integrated into Moot's seat post without modification? If no, will Moot's do the modification, or will it need to be sent to a third-party. I believe Calfee currently provides this support.

(2) I assume that integrating the battery into the seat post will eliminate the need for external battery mounts, as well as any ports through which to pass the power cable. If that is correct, will frame modifications going forward be specific to the selection of battery type, or will all DI2 modified frames be constructed to support both battery options?

Thanks

Regular 7X8 grommets GR02 for Ultegra Di2 work just fine for ST(1), CS(1) and DT (1). Cable from the battery enters the frame from the BB opening which is larger than the other ones. Jon, anyone please chime in?

I have no idea of the size of the BB cable opening since I don't have my frame yet. I had not even thought about the BB opening. I was wondering if I would need special grommets for the DT, ST and CS openings, however. The BB opening may not be an issue and it might provide a drain hole for when it rains??

craig r,

What's the new ShimanoDi2 offering? I'm curious what the differences are between the current offering and the upcoming version.

Also, anybody heard anything new about when Campagnolo's EPS system will be available to the public?
Thanks,

D.

Unfortunately, that won't be until near the end of the year. No I'll be able to let a RSL frameset sit around for that long!

Thanks Jon. Looking forward to it! Now if only Di2 9070 was released a bit sooner. That group looks sweet.

CTracer,
You will need an internal wiring harness and the short battery bracket.

Should be a sweeeet build!

Thanks,

Hi,

I have a RSL road bike with the Di2 option on order (hopefully it will be arriving soon!) and I was wondering what I will need to get it going? Specifically, will I need to purchase 1.) an internal wiring harness and 2.) a short battery bracket?

Any advice/insight is appreciated. Thanks.
