Get the 100, and ride it, you will not be able to tell any difference in the ride. Especially if you set a little sag in the shock to get the travel working in the 80-100 range. Putting an entry level shock on would just devalue the experence and lead to problems as the entry level performance starts to deminish with time and miles.

I understand. There just isn't many 80mm fork options these days. What is your opinion, anyone? Should I go with a so-so entry level 80mm fork, or upgrade to a 100mm fork to improve performance. Or am I just kidding myself on the improved performance since the 100mm fork throws-off the geometry?

Earp,
That in fact is a November 2004 model. It was built around an 80mm travel fork at that time. You can go to the 100mm however, it will alter the geometry from it's original design. It will handle slower and ride higher in the bb area...

I recently acquired a NOS YBB 26 from a dealer - SN 175442. I believe the frame is around a 2004-2005 vintage. Jon, can you confirm?

It currently has a FOX RLT F80 fork, and I want to upgrade. Is there a recommended fork for this model and year YBB? I'm thinking of another Fox, maybe a F100. I'm a recreational XC and trail rider. I want to be sure to get something compatible. Thanks for any help and insight.
