Gents, thank you very much for your advise. I truly appreciate it. I should therefore drop the idea. Regards to all in the Moots kingdom.

Wouldn't a person be better off having ISCG tabs added to their bottom bracket and run a Hammerschmidt crankset? Better availability, the ability to switch back to a standard crankset if you desire and not making your frame dedicated to one style would be better I think.

Indio---

We are familiar with the Schlumpf design and requirements to modify the bb shell. Interesting for sure.

Doing this to your frame yourself would do a couple of things:

--void the warranty
--make your frame compatible with the Schlumpf design only....for the rest of it’s' life.

Back in the day Mavic made a square taper bb that could be used in bb shells that had the threads blown out and this saved some frames from the grave yard.

We would only do this on a new frame order and it would incur a cost of $300 to $500 of set up time and tooling requirements on our end. So far we have not sold a single frame built around this system.

A big leap of faith if you ask me. A lifetime frame built around a very obscure system.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Personally I would hesitate at modifying away from how the frame was finished at the factory. But then I have only heard of schlumpf and not seen or tried first hand.

I would contact JonC directly at Moots and see what his thoughts are, They may be able to do the chamfering for you so getting a much more professional finish.

I am very surprised that you haven/t had a response from anybody at Moots. It does not reflect my experience in the slightest. I would try again and give them a chance. The powers that be (those at Moots) do look after their own (us Moots owners)

hi, does anyone in the Moots kingdom has Schlumpf Innovation Speed Drive crank set, particularly on a Rigormootis? My inquiry - the crank set ( Schlumpf Innovation) requires that the bottom bracket be 45degrees chamfered cut which means the bottom bracket shell will be modified/altered using a special tool wc dealers of Schlumpf will rent out. would appreciate your sharing the experience w this or any opinion on this? Im also concerned about the warrantee of Moots since i just recently got the frame. thanks.

ps, i tried emailing several times the Moots Ind. however until know I have not receive any respond. Its a pity, since this is already my second moots bike but never got any favorable after market service from them.
