I have used both the non-permanent pf30 to BSA adaptor and the problems solvers delrin spacers with a shimano xtr crank on my MootoX RSL. Both work awesome. The spacers required some thin shims like what u use when u install a bb30 crank.

normlobo,
Sorry for the delay here...out sick since my return from NAHBS. The 28 x 40 is a no go. We are not comfortable with the clearance to the stay. Stick with the 26 x 38 set up and the 11-36 cassette. Gearing should be good on the 29 wheel and clearance is much better.

Thanks,

Thanks for the posts guys. I do understand that the 38x26 does work. What about the 40x28? These are M985 cranks. Jon C - Any word on compatability with these cranksets? Thanks.

@nstilwell, what spacers are you running on either side of the bottom bracket? I am trying to set the 38x26 on mine and it is VERY close to the chainstay.

Not sure if this helps you or not, but I'm running the 38x26 (M-980) XTR crankset with a threaded bb on my 2011 MXYBB. I was told the 42x30 (M-985) model would not work with the 2011 MXYBB because the 30-tooth chain ring would hit the chain stay. Again, my frame is an MXYBB not an RSL. Maybe the bigger setup will work with the MXRSL since it has thinned out chain stays. I'm sure Jon will chime in.

Not sure if 29ers can take a 30 tooth.
Also- see if Moots will make you an RSL with a threaded bb- PF30 can be problematic. No reason to have if you are going to run an XTR crank anyhow.

Anyone know if I can run a 42x30 XTR Double crank on the 2012 MXRSL without issues? Thanks.
