If you can live with the noise it's most likely not doing any harm....but I wouldn't let it go too long.

thanks,

Thanks, Jon,

Any "urgency" in getting that repair done? Other than it being annoying to listen to, I am not doing the bike any damage by riding it "as is", am I?

Uni bikes should be able to handle that repair. From the sounds of it it will need new lower bearings. The lowers see the worse wear as the rear wheel deposits water/dirt/mud onto the lower pivot over time. It's pretty simple....labor plus parts...not sure on the going rate at uni bikes.

i recently went for a mtb ride in crested butte...hadn't been on my MOOTS mtb in a couple of years because of low back surgery...anyway, heard a "creaking" sound from what seemed like the bottom bracket. i just had the bb rebuilt by uni bikes in boulder but when i picked it up today, the mechanic and i discovered that the "creaking" sound was emanating from the rear pivot, just above the bb, any word on what this is about? does anyone know what it costs to repair this and what the repair involves? do i need to get the bike to steamboat springs for repair, or is this a repair i should entrust to uni bikes?

thanks for your input.
