All....

My heart is with Campy....my pocket book, or should I say, pocket book keeper (great wife) is with Sram. I was in California in April and a good friend of mine had just outfitted his new RSL with the Sram/Red in the Black....or would that be Sram Black?

Anyway....really sweet looking set up.

Thanks,

The white will get dingier quicker but I like it on a Moots and I'm thinking that if you can afford a Moots, Enve, Zipp, SRAM Red build, you can scrape together $20 a couple times a season to keep your bar tape looking straight. I always used black tape/seat on my bikes but I went with white on my CR. I just ordered some white leather wrap with dual black stitching from Handlebra in keeping with the whole "classic" theme. Supposedly you can clean it but I'll let you know.

Sounds like a great build. I am not a fan of white bar tape, kind of like a black car. Looks beautiful the day you get it....but never looks that way again.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I ended up deciding on getting SRAM Red after long term deliberation. I think the Dura Ace crank looks a little too futuristic with the classic lines of a Moots and I have way too many expensive wheelsets and cassettes that are Shim/SRAM compatible to make Campy worth it.

I'm thinking of using an ENVE fork, Zipp 404 clinchers, black Thomson post and stem, and white seat/bar tape. What do you guys think?

Hope it comes out looking classy!

I really like the looks of my new White Industries polished hubs. The subtle Ti bead blasting cooperates with the shiny hubs and spokes nicely. My other wheelset with black hubs and spokes looked a little dreary. The jury is still out on my blue rain tires, but yellow ones looked horrible, and came off immediately.

I agree with Mark. I've seen many frames with lots of different stuff on 'em...Dura Ace, Red, Record (or Super Record) and they all look good.

Well, I have seen pictures of Moots (and other high end frames) with really low end stuff on 'em (Tiagara, Apex, SLX mountain stuff) and I don't think that looks good. Kinda like having a Porsche or Ferrari with 14" steel rims on it. Sure it works, but why?

I don't own Campy due to costs I would have had in replacing wheel sets but I think that Super Record is the best looking high-end group sold today. From a functional standpoint, I can tell you that Di2 is the best group I have ever owned but if you go that way, get Moots to set the frame up for internal wiring. Don't listen to anyone who says that if you set it up for internal wiring, you won't be able to go back to mechanical easily. Trust me, you won't be going back. I also think that a Moots frame has a classic, old-school look and I would argue that Dura-Ace 7800 or Campy Athena groups with all the polished aluminum looks great on this type of frame. At the end of the day, it's hard to make a Moots look bad no matter what you hang on it.

Hey all,

My Moots Vamoots is supposed to be coming in around mid to late June and I have yet to decide what group to put on it.

I've tried Red, Dura Ace, and Record and they all work fine so my question to you all is what group do you think LOOKS the best on a Moots bead blasted frame.
