Hi

Its interesting the negative the comments about DI2. i.e. weight ,aesthetics , reliability etc I guess will have to make a decision on that.

Would have liked more comment on the battery position and downtube sizing especially from Moots.

Either way I want to order before the end of the month so will have to decide and order.

Thanks for the comments it’s always good to hear another point of view.

I 100% agree with you Sevenstar. If I ever built a touring bike, I would NEVER build a Di2 bike. I had batteries die on me on the past and a crash/mishap would leave me without shifting and most bike shops do not stock Di2 parts.

Coming off a SRAM Red bike, there is a visceral experience you don't get from electronic. I guess it's similar to my passion for cars. I own a Double Clutch car which is great for so many reasons, but I would never give up my 3rd pedals when I really want to feel like I am driving :)

At the end of the day, it's what gets you going. Speaking of which, I am already looking at doing a weight weenie SRAM Red build next :)

hi joe

i think its good to enjoy new parts and better performance and indeed on your moots the Chunkieness is not too obvious ..

still IMHO most moots owners look for lightweight and purity...and when it comes to reliability i think steel cables are better than Chiptech...we see on cars how it works...chips make it hard to maintain and failure is often an issue...

anyway i won t insult anyone who chooses DI2 or any other parts of preference-
and of course shifting performance might be a bit quicker with the DI2..

just wanted to chare a point of view..

I have been riding for a long time, and love the purity of cycling. I installed Di2 on my TeamMachine and have seen the light. Is it heavier? Yes.. It's it chunkier looking? Yes...

But does it ever mis-shift? NO, Can I shift under power?...YES

There will be a lot of haters on this new technology as they are considered purists.

I ordered my Moots with Di2 and I will never go back to cable shifting unless I am going for a super weight weenie bike.

Here is a pic of my Di2 build:

http://instagram.com/p/R3ckhChRF7/

I feel the bike looks amazing with the Di2....but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

u will be surprised any way u go...cr or rsl .both perfect performers

u will feel a BIG difference to mid 90s litespeed or CF frames anyway.

only the DI2 ist such a assault to me on the nice designframes....its got soooo much disadvantage.

weight, looks, reliabilty.........

think twice before u jump on.

wish u a good "AHA" effect during the first rides on a mooti

Hi Thanks for that

I guess I’m looking at di2 because when I get really tired tend to miss shift a bit, as usual up hill of course, I would think just touching a button to change might help that.

Also looking at RSL as I like the butted tubing from Reynolds etc. and I think it’s one of the leading Ti bilke builds around.
The bigger downtube and head tube idea is it will make the bike more efficient but not too ridged, that's my thoughts anyway.

My old bike is a Litespeed Vortex 97 vintage so a Moots would be quite a bit stiffer but being Ti not too stif for the type of riding I do, not like carbon, have tried Specialized and Giant and they are too ridged for me, plus don't like the dead feeling of carbon.

maybe just get a cr without DI2 and ride on happilly..i think DI2 is a sellers gimmick somehow plus adds weight..i think if u just go riding a standart rig should work..

i am more troubled by abused bones as such details that are not too important on the high level you go anyway..a good fit, tube size seems the most important specs while choosing a moots is a good idea ...the 44 mm steerer is good for freeriding mtb but the forx stiffness again is the real factor to keep in mind..especially out of the saddle.

i would also always prefer a good diameter FAT tubeset if u got power in the legs.....

Hi

Looking at a VAMOOTS RSL 54cm or CR of the same size
My type of riding is now ultra-distance cycling as I can’t do ironman anymore, knees don’t like running but can bike all I want.
I understand that from 54 to 55 cm sizes on the RSL the down tube goes up a size, would like the larger size, and second would prefer the 44 mm head tube.
As I need a 130mm stem I don’t think the RSL would be too quick in the handling department even though am riding for 10 hours plus etc.
Lastly I want 11 speed DA DI2 with a battery in the seat post if possible or the battery above the bottom bracket, I live in an area where I ride through Dairy farms that leave a lot of muck on the road. Would rather not have it all over the battery as it’s a bit toxic.

Are these specs too difficult or not logical, any suggestions or comments would be most appreciated.
