What you describe sounds like it might be the bearings, not the cranks. A friend of mine (and excellent mechanic) installed a SiSL crank with standard SRAM/Truvativ bearings, and the crank barely spins. If you run a standard crank, you can get a 135mm spider that will accept Campy chainrings. A compact requires Campy-compatible rings because the compact spider will not accept Campy rings—there is not enough room for the chainring bolt behind the crankarm to be bolted in from behind. They do however make ones that will work. They are the 68 x 46 adapter. The Press fit BB30 has an inside diameter of 46mm vs. the standard BB30 of 42mm. </p> <p>As for the tool to use, I would go the route of using a standard head set press to push the cups into place.
