Krocdoc,
Good advice from the other forum members for sure. Thanks to all for the input.

As stated above, material choices makes no difference in fit....as gearguywb stated: feet, butt, hands...get them in the correct position and you will be set.

Where are you located? We may be able to point you in the direction of a good fitter and also have a chat on the phone to iron out the details.

Give us a call anytime....970-879-1676

Many thanks,

1. Fire the fitter that said frame numbers change with frame material.
2. Always do the fit by your contact points. Feet, butt, hands, then work from there.
3. Seat tube length has little to nothing to do with fit. It is about asthetics, and to some extent, frame stiffness.

I've found the Moots team to be very adept at coming up with the right answers when given a chance. I'd recommend a call to the mothership asking what measurements they need and then supplying them from your Tarmac (asssuming that was fit for you and you are VERY comfortable with that set-up. Find a buddy to help with the measurements to get them accurate. Of course always obey the cardinal rules measure at least twice and drink afterward. The only big worry about the seat tube is whether or not the family jewels clear. The most important is top tube and vertical position (more upright or stretched out). Spacers, stems and seat alignment can be tuned in if the top tube is done right.

The difference in material doesn't make a difference, but the subtle differences in geos can create more variation than simply comparing effective top tube lengths. The different seat tube heights are not a factor. The seat tube and head tube angles of the RSL are slightly steeper than on the Tarmac, so for the same saddle position relative to the bottom bracket (height and set back), this will have the effect of adding some effective length to the RSL vs. the Tarmac, assuming that the effective top tube is being measured at the same height (which isn't certain). The RSL would appear to be a little higher in the front, since it has a non-integrated head tube height of 12.5cm v. 13cm for the Tarmac, plus an additional 3mm for the lower BB of the RSL.

If you plug all of the info into BikeCAD you could get a pretty good idea how the two frames compare. The two frames appear to be pretty similar, but to get your contact points in the same place you will need slightly more saddle setback on the RSL, and may have a different number of spacers, stem length, etc. If you take all of the relevant measurements off of your Tarmac, a Moots dealer should be able to mock them up on BikeCAD.

Question for the fitters out there. I am looking to build up a Vamoots RSL. I'm having a tough time with the geometry. I currently am on a 54cm Tarmac SWorks. It appears that the 54cm RSL is 3mm shorter for eff top tube length. Seatube is much shorter from 548 to 545. One of the local independent fitters has told me that I can't just transfer measurements directly when the frame materials are different (carbon to ti). So, now I'm in a quandry as there are no local Moots fitters. Suggestions, help? I'd even fly to get an accurate fit. Thanks.
