To add to MarkM's point, Moots does a great job getting their bikes to ride "like a Moots." They all have an excellent balance of stiffness, responsiveness and smoothness.

In my opinion, Moots really upped the ante with the RSL—it has the get-up-and-go snap of a state-of-the-art race bike but soaks up crappy roads like a Moots. Is it as smooth as the Vamoots? It's close, remarkably so given how much stiffer it is.

Once I start comparing high end frames to one another, be it from the same manufacturer or even different manufacturers, I find that there are many more similarities in feel between them than differences. Most of these nuances are really only noticed after hours on the bike rather than a few minutes on a test ride. (Although if you just spent $3000-$5000+ on a frame, you can feel the difference right away...at least that's what you tell yourself :-) Anyway, like mentioned above, different forks will make a difference in ride quality, different wheel sets will make a difference, tire pressures will make a huge difference, and so on. I don't doubt there are tangible differences in these frames because there are but feeling most of them under normal riding conditions takes a decent amount of time on the bike riding over the same road surfaces you are used to, the same type of fork on each frame, same wheels, and tire pressures. Now here's the kicker. Let's say that you can feel the difference. Does that matter? Will it change the overall riding experience and make it better or is it just different? Only you can decide for yourself. It is like being married to a blonde or a brunette. Both are beautiful in their own way but neither one is happy when you take off for your fourth ride of the week for three hours to ride on a beautiful Saturday morning instead of spending more time with the family or working around the house.

I've owned a Vamoots and currently have a Compact SL. I never noticed much difference in stiffness between these two.
I took an RSL out for a test ride recently and didn't find it that much different from my SL. Certainly not a big difference.
I really only thought it was only marginally stiffer in the bottom bracket/rear end/out of the saddle efforts.
It did seem a lot stiffer in the front end though, however since replacing my Easton SLX fork with an Edge 2.0 that has changed.(I'd like to try the RSL again now)
I'd suggest you try and take one for a ride and make up your own mind.

RSL is designed to be much stiffer. Larger diameter tubes, press fit BB30, etc. Remember, it is designed to be a race bike. It is not "knock your teeth out stiff" by any means but there is a big difference.

For anybody who has been on both, what is the comfort difference? Is it really stiff, or more like one notch up from a vamoots? Is the larger seat post diameter a main reason?
