I have used it quite a bit for both amateur and elite riders. I use a combination of Vittoria Mastik glue and Belgian tape for gluing cross tires and have been using this method for years. Have never had any issues or a rolled tire using the method. Stu has more information about the 'Belgian' method on his Cyclocrossworld site. But for road applications, I still use Mastik glue only.

Dom,
I've seen it used, never used myself. Mostly used on CX tubulars to get maximum stick. Low pressures of 25psi or less like to peal tires off rims...the Belgies and Cannondale CX guys use this. Me, I've got my glue system I've used for years and really don't see the need.....I have good mojo going with what I know.

Anybody ever use this stuff? I've never heard of it before.

http://cyclocrossworld.stores.yahoo.net/betutala.html

Also, what's the best way to glue a cross tire to the rim? Is it different that mounting a road tubular?

My method for gluing road tires is 2 coats on lightly inflated tire (fresh basetape will soak up first coat of glue pretty fast), 1 coat on the rim (cleaned with acetone), and allow both to dry overnight, apply another final coat to both tire and rim and mount tire while glue is tacky. center, inflate hard and let dry overnight.
