All,
Thanks for the posts. As I posted awhile back, we are not doing Di2 routing retro-fits. It gets messy really quick and then you would also be left with cable guides and stops that are doing nothing.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,

I picked up a Di2 group cheap and was keen to run it internally, so I too asked the question and was told by Jon C that they would not retrfit my Compact SL.
So eventually I bought the external wiring kit and the gray stick on cable covers and got to work putting it on my SL.
I really spent the time figuring out the options for cable routing and making it as neet as possible.
And I've got to say that it came up a treat! And looked better than any internal wiring jobs I've seen.
The gray covers work well with Ti and are not that noticeable when run right underneath the down tube and chain stays(They stick really well too).
Excess wiring from the shifters was tucked inside the shifter bodies, any excess wire at the bottom bracket can be wrapped around the junction there and I even dismantled the battery connection wire so I could pass that wire through the gap between the chainstay bridge and bottom bracket.
So I guess i'm saying if you really want to run Di2 and Moots wont retro fit it for you and you dont want to void your warranty by drilling holes in your frame the run it externally. I dont think you will be disapointed with the end result.
And before you ask I cant post pics of my conversion because I'm back running my mech' D/Ace.

Agreed. Kinda the chicken and the egg question, huh? Does an RSL deserve Di2 or does Di2 deserve an RSL frame?

29ner,

I guess it didn't come across the way I intended, but I was being more tongue-in-cheek/sarcastic in saying "attack it with a drill". God knows I'd NEVER drill out a frame and wouldn't recommend it to anyone either...sorry it didn't come across that way.

I agree that starting from scratch is the best route, but the OP may find a custom builder that would be willing to do it, although as I said, it would void the warranty.

I don't think you could get a drill to the place you would want the holes.

" Much more prudent to sell the bike/frame and start from stratch. " better idea if you want permanent exclusive Di2

Fubar, In my opinion - that is bad advise. You don't drill a hole into a frame. Any frame. arm017, it won't be done at Moots and there is a reason. Another builder 'could' do it, but unless you pay a fair amount, they'll probably say 'no' as well. It's much more difficult to do this work on a full frame than a tube, filing off (very carefully) the guides and stops, drilling into a tube that probably wasn't meant to be drilled (and again, a frame, as opposed to a tube, adds a huge '.....uh......' to this). The tubes are held in jigs and drilled, mitered, cut,.....whatever). I think it is 4 holes and the super tricky one would be the right chainstay for the rear derailleur.

Then it's a matter of checking and (if needed), realigning it, re-blasting it and new decals. I would think Moots would be quite hesitant to send a decal set to another builder.

Much more prudent to sell the bike/frame and start from stratch.

Jon has said in other posts that they can't/won't/don't do Di2 retrofits.

Also, if you're willing to void any warranty that your bike has, attack it with a drill. You might find another builder that would be willing to retrofit Di2. It would still void the warranty, but be done properly.

I know that it is a build option when you are buying the frame, but is it possible to retrofit my Vamoots CR to accept internal DI2 wiring? John C?

I would want to do it through MOOTS and not any home mechanic "drilling/ modifying". Does anybody know if they are up to the task?

Thanks.
