Poff,
After the first of the year we will be able to offer the post mount style disc brake mounts. That will be only on bikes that don't currently have an ISO mount welded in place. If it has an ISO mount already on it, we won't cut off and retro fit.

Thanks,

OK I understand. Related Q - when are you going to start retrofitting frames with post-mount DB mounts? I have PX RSL I want to retrofit with them 8^)

poff,
Sorry but we don't retro fit bikes for a few good reasons...very tough to get a proper alignment of the new drop out when not dealing with a new frame....also, getting the miter as perfect as a new one is up there with impossible...not what we want out there in the world. Time and money....to spend the time to cut out, re-miter and weld the sliders in would take an amazing amount of time...not worth the effort.

Hope that helps.

Shorter, longer - I'm not sure - it's a matter of looking at the geometry sheets elsewhere on this site or a catalog. But, regardless, retrofitting a slider rear to an already built bike/frame is a near impossibility and one that I'm sure Moots will say 'no' to. I would believe ANY frame maker would say the same.

Again, it's just not the way frame companies do things.

29er, I belive the stays are shorter on a slider rear end, but there is no possible way to cut off the original Breezer dropouts and then exit the seatstays and chainstays to EXACTLY fit the slider dropout so that proper alignment can be achieved. IMHO

Slider to go single speed?
Mooto X RSL should come with PF30 BB, so use this bottom bracket to adjust chain tension instead of slider:

To elaborate a bit. There seems to be a number of questions over the years about people wanting to retro fit this or that on a frame. Fair enough. But these bikes are built the way they are ordered and/or, the way they were suppose to be built. A simple question of whether it 'can' be retro-fitted is another issue - Can it? (possibly). Will it? No. There is just no way a frame company 'un-builds' what it built in the first place.

There are alot of talented people that can turn a Ford Pinto into a Pantera - but those are reality shows, and way beyond the means of Moots (or any other frame company). The man hours involved alone would be hugely not-cost-effective. They don't have the tooling, jigs, etc. etc for (what would be) a hack job. Those are very thin walled tubes and I believe the stays are longer as well (on a SS)?? It's a simple question, and a seemingly simple 'thing' to do - but it's much, much more difficult from an already assembled frame. Much easier to start from a clean sheet and a proper build.

It's against and and all design and build principles. You don't turn a banjo into a dobro.

If I may, I will answer for Moots. No. That is a tremendous amount of work and man-hours. Much, much better, and certainly easier, to start from stratch and build a new frame.

Like asking if they can make the Mona Lisa 'smile' a little more...... :)
