I've been using a Brooks Team Pro Ti and I love it. Maybe not the last word in light weight but very comfortable and rock solid on my cinch layback. Not to mention it looks fabulous. :-)

Just my two cents...

Well JB I'm glad you posted this, but sorry for the crash. I am running the Max Flite and had slippage issues every since I got my ride in June. After a few rides the saddle was pushed to the rear. I would tighten it, but it still was happening until yesterday when I stripped out the drive side cone on the cinch post. Moots is sending me out another one. I looked at my saddle and sure enough they are like you said a tall oval and hard to notice.
Thanks tbill and egordon.
So what saddle do I need to switch to? I know that's a loaded question, but I really like the wider width. Any suggestions?

Woody

JB,

As Sat said, Tegaderm is great stuff. The biggest one that I'm aware of is 8" x 12", but you generally need to order them online. A great source for products to treat road rash is woundcareshop.com

http://www.woundcareshop.com/TegadermOriginalFrameStyleby3M.aspx

They also sell Surgilast, which is that stretchy mesh retainer that you see riders wearing over their bandages:

http://www.woundcareshop.com/TegadermOriginalFrameStyleby3M.aspx

Hope you have a speedy recovery, too.

JB,

I used Tegaderm, it is a patch that you apply to the wound area. It is left on until the area is healed up. I used in on my knee when I had a very bad Mountain Bike crash. Ripped my knee down to the cartilage, the Tegaderm worked great the scar is hardly noticeable.

I hope you have a speedy recovery.

You guys are great! I have the same saddle on my road bike and the rails are nearly rectangular. On the newer saddle it's considerably less obvious and the shape is more of the tall oval. On my older Flite the rails are completely round and fit completely snug.

Seat and Post problem is solved!...now who can tell me how to secure a gauze pad to a softball sized raspberry on my hip?

Thanks again.

JB, I have a classic Flite Ti saddle (circa late 80's) that I mounted on my layback to see if it would also disengage. I'm not sure how different the new style is from the old but it's the best I could do. I hand torqued it (pretty tight...) and the saddle is on there to stay. Hard tugging will not budge the saddle. My guess is there is something with the new saddle that is causing the problem. As tbill said, check the rails on your saddle to see if it's compatible. Good luck and I hope you're feeling better.

Ouch! That sounds horrible. Hope you are on the mend.

What version seatpost are you using, the classic or cinch? Also, how old is the saddle? The reason I ask is that many of the newer Selle Italia saddles have rectangular rails, which are incompatible with the cinch post, and are not optimal with the older seatpost. If the rails are 7mm round then they should work with either post. I occasionally has issues with the older posts rotating, and replaced them with the newer cinch post. I have never had an issue with the new cinch design. Sorry I can't be of more help.

My Selle Max Flite came off during a remount on the last lap of a cx race on Sat. My bars slid down during a four hop barrier section so I figured both were just loose from the original build. I put the seat back on and gave the bolts a pretty good twist before setting out on a ride last night. Doing around 20 mph I decide to pull on the seat to make sure it wasn't going anywhere and quickly found myself removing my shorts and shirt with the pavement. Needless to say, my confidence in this configuration is compromised. Any advise on whether this is a compatibility issue or a setup issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

JB
