How do Bill,

Sadly your quote of £100 per £1000 is about right for the the bike insurance, but with the recent upsurge in bike thefts i have splashed a bit. I used Butterworth's insurance in liverpool. Apparently the CTC and British Cycling now have insurance schemes worth checking out i suppose

However! some of the lads in the club have told me that Marks and Spencer's home and contects insurance covers a bike collection up to £20000 (i think) which even covers bikes locked up outside cafes, again sadly i am tied in to my home and contents for the moment but definatly worth investigating

I spend a lot of time on my mootour these days plodding around and leaving the bike unattended is often a must. Lugging that sodding motorbike chain around with me makes me think i wasted the money on the moots bike, the chain etc actually weighs more than the loaded bike. Should I not have just bought a cheap and clumsy which any old lock would sufficed?

Good luck with your search my friend and let me know how you get on?

kam

Hi kamkam,

Don't have any info on the lock I'm afraid, but wondered where you got viable insurance in the UK at all. The only stuff I could find worked out about £100 per £1000 bike value which wound up costing more than twice as much as insuring my car! I ended up not getting any and so my bike always lives in the house when at home (hence covered by home contents insurance) and never gets left alone when out. Would be grateful if you can point me to somewhere that does offer feasibly priced UK moots insurance (although then my wife would have a better argument for suggesting it lived in the garage with the other bikes).

Cheers,
bill

Hello to all the brothers and sisters in mootsland,

I am just wondering if anybody out there has come across the TiGr titanium bike lock.

I have been blighted here in the UK, that in order to get descent insurance on my moots bikes I HAVE to carry around a lock that is actually heavier than the bike (seriously). The lock has to be on an "approved list" blah blah blah.

Does anybody have any info on these locks? whats are the experiences out there. Being titanium they are costly, BUT titanium is titanium.

Your thoughts would be most appreciated.
