XC racing, yes Baum will do it but it was just too expensive(they sure know how to charge) for me.
Sending the frames back to Moots to be refubished is just too cost prohibitive as much as I wanted to.
In the end I did both the frames myself.
As for the finish, well, I used exactly the same medium and so far I'm very happy with the finish.
I would say though that my frames came up a slight shade lighter in colour.
I feel they will darken(oxidize) up a shade with time though.
With new decals and touched up head tube badges they look almost new.
I also really wanted the original finish on my bikes so it was worth all the effort, but in hindsight and maybe next time I will brush finish the frames.
I have brush finished a number of other Ti frames in the past and in my opinion they come up great and its very easy to do.

Where/who in Victoria did you have your Moots bead blasted? (would Baum do it?) is it look like the real Moots texture?

My RigorMootis needs a facelift with rashes over the years. And it rides well with a Lefty.

Sounds like there is a small Moots community down south.

Up until I owned a Moots(Ti in general) I was a serial bike buyer, I think I probably changed over my frames at least anually sometimes more often.
I've owned Moots bikes now for nearly 12 years, my oldest is a Compact SL roadie that I've had for 9 years.
In that time I've played with a couple of Carpet fibre bikes but I keep coming back to the SL and really cant see myself getting rid of it now.
Just recently I bought a second hand 'well ridden' MXRSL from another forum member. I stripped it re-bead blasted it, put on a new decal set and hey-presto I've got a new bike(well almost).
But this is what I love about Moots bikes, super durable, classic geometries, well made, no gimmicks all things that do make them stand the test of time.
I'd never owned a Moots MTB(have had other Ti MTB's) and never a 29'r 'till the MXRSL.
Its been such a revelation that I now have quite a number of 26" MTB that need to find good homes.

PS-Exie, Really looking forward to the ride on Sunday.

The only issue I have with my Moots is when I get a new bike jones (and face it, we all get one no matter what is hanging in the house/shed/garage) I cannot justify getting a new bike. My Moots rides just as well today as it did 7 years ago when I bought it! It truly is a lifetime bike! Well said Exie, well said.

Not sure why I'm starting a thread here, but just wanted to throw in my though of the day.

A Moots really is a bike for life!

Someone said that when I was shopping many years back and .... damn they were right! I havent been riding much lately, but I went out to the shed to put on a new saddle, lube up the chain and give it a quick check over before a ride on the weekend.

Looking at the bike brought back all the things I love about it. The quality, what a great piece of engineering it is, the beautiful Ti that doesnt scratch or mark and I thought, was a great looking bike, damn I want to get out and ride now!

As I went back inside, I thought to myself.....I could have brought any other brand, but few would have lasted this long and none would continue to inspire me to get out there and keep riding like the Moots does.

Sure, Bike trends change, with every season a new color scheme from the major manufacturers, but the Moots is not a fashion statement, It's classic. It will always look good, and ride great! I doubt I'll ever see one show up on "American Pickers".

If the bike was a theme park, the Moots is not a one-time ticket or even a season pass, its an un-limited lifetime ticket that will thrill every time you get on it.

No doubt other owners here will know what I'm talking about.

Cant wait for the weekend now!
