I have a pair of Enve XC clinchers w/ King hubs on my Gristle and another pair on my Mooto X RSL. While not apples to apples with a cross bike, I absolutely love them and have had zero issues. I am planning without hesitation to put a pair of Enve clinchers on a Psch X RSL if and when I can convince my wife that's ok to have just one more bike. For me clinchers on a cross bike are an all around better solution for the varied riding I do, especially when it comes time to swap tires. I wish Tufo would re-introduce their tubular-clinchers for cross, I stocked up and am riding my last pair on my Psch X YBB. Over 8 years of pretty tough riding I never flatted or rolled a tire once. Cheers!

Hi,

I am looking fo ra super nice wheel set to complement my tubulars
I am riding a Psychlo RSL and Vamoots RSL

I am considering a set of carbon clincher but are they safe to ride ?

Should I go for ENVE 28 spokes 45 or Zipp 303 ?

Mavic wheels have poor hubs so I would prefer to avoid them

best

SantaCruzan,
For that vintage of Vamoots 56cm, go with the 45mm rake. The Moots fork is a great riding unit for sure, and that rake will match the desired handling for the 56cm head angle.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

I'm looking to replace the Reynolds Ouzo Pro on my VaMoots 56cm (2004+\-). The Moots site specs a 45 rake.
Is that the final word? There seems to be some threads that indicate 43 or even 40.
I'll go with either the enve 2.0 or Moots fork (kind of partial to a black fork).
Any thoughts or comments. This is one I don't want to get wrong. I don't recall the rake on the Reynolds fork.
Thanks

The Ti King cages are the way to go, ive got thousands and thousands of mtbike miles using a KingTi cages without losing a bottle. The cages will last as long as your Moots. I have them on all the bikes i ride. I wouldnt go for the stainless, although they are as well made, the strength is not that of Ti and if you are getting the best you might as well get the best of the best.

And Fubar is right that the Moots blasted Ti King cages look right at home on a Moots Ti bike.

Now if you've a set of the Avengers bottles, scuff them up all you want - in particular Thor and The Hulk. (Popeye and Goofy as well).

King has (I think he still makes them, anyway) stainless steel bottle holders. Half the price, look just as good-and they don't mess up Mickey either.

If I could only find a set of Mighty Mouse bottles.

They're a little bit pricey but if you want the best get a set of the Moots/King Ti cages, I love em. I have them on my PX and they hold the bottles securely even on the gnarliest trails yet it's still easy to get the bottles in & out, and as TF said they do not mar (especially important if you have a set of Disney 'Mickey & Minnie' bottles).

I've just been reading about King Cages. You guys in the States surely have seen them ! What are they like ? To me they look a bit old skool cage, but the thought of increasing the Ti count on the RSL is tempting !!

Another lovely bit of Colorado Ti, or do I go the Arundle route ???

I saw a post from about 10 months ago that spoke to pre October 2010 MXYBB's not being ideal for 2x10 set up (SRAM or Shimano). Mark M had a great post I thought. He mentioned that a frame (July 2010 MXYBB like mine) WAS ABLE to accept a SRAM XX crank 38x26. Talk to me. If this is the case, and it works well, I am all in. If not, I'd like to get the XTR 2x10 to work without just installing my BB off center. I liked Mark's comments about keeping the BB as centered as possible with only one spacer. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
