Ankle deep mud, frozen ruts in the shade, and to to it off the organizers left the power washers out overnight and the machines froze up and were rendered useless. Our pit crew went into the race with scrapers and a couple of cans of de-icer, and made the most of our situtition. Bike changes every lap were not a luxury, they were a necessity. The cogset and drivetrain would cog with mud, which would then freeze, before a lap was done. We would attack the bike with scrapers, and spray the cogset with de-icer just to get the ice-mud off, then spray down everything with lube and get ready for Jon to pit. It was total chaos, and we were barely able to keep up with the pace of the race, as Jon and DonMyrah duked it out on the track. Jon and Don battled the entire race, changing lead back and forth throughout.
