I have a pair of Enve XC clinchers w/ King hubs on my Gristle and another pair on my Mooto X RSL. While not apples to apples with a cross bike, I absolutely love them and have had zero issues. I am planning without hesitation to put a pair of Enve clinchers on a Psch X RSL if and when I can convince my wife that's ok to have just one more bike. For me clinchers on a cross bike are an all around better solution for the varied riding I do, especially when it comes time to swap tires. I wish Tufo would re-introduce their tubular-clinchers for cross, I stocked up and am riding my last pair on my Psch X YBB. Over 8 years of pretty tough riding I never flatted or rolled a tire once. Cheers!

Hi,

I am looking fo ra super nice wheel set to complement my tubulars
I am riding a Psychlo RSL and Vamoots RSL

I am considering a set of carbon clincher but are they safe to ride ?

Should I go for ENVE 28 spokes 45 or Zipp 303 ?

Mavic wheels have poor hubs so I would prefer to avoid them

best

Sorry to hear about the accident - bikes can be replaced - people cannot.

FWIW, I had better luck shopping eBay than Craigslist. I was able to get a '99 YBB with Chris King headset and rebuilt Marzocchi for $900 shipped. The few frames I found on CL tended to be hundreds of dollars more, and I never did find one local to me any way.

As sbs suggested, Craigslist is a viable option. you may also want to consider your LBS (local bike shop), assuming you have a relationship established with them, a good bike shop should be able to provide you with something to fit your needs, perhaps a rental or loaner, good luck and hope you're feeling better.

Man that sucks. Keep in mind that new bikes are nice, and Moots' level of quality is well beyond the needs of any cyclist. I would get to the local craigs list and just get a solid used bike to get back out the road. That entry to the triple bypass could easily be sold off to another rider to get you funds for a new ride. Keeping in mind that although a Campy Super Record RSL would make these events a blast to ride, most riders can't afford or need that level of quality to enjoy cycling. I'm not familar with the other events, but it seems to me transportation should be your first concern, not how you will participate in recreational events, even for charity. Those events will still be around long after you rebound from this. Good luck.

I have always been impressed by the Moots bikes. My bike shop swears by them. Unfortunately, they're way beyond my budget. Perhaps when I'm done with medical school, I can look into Moots building my dream bike.

At the end of November, I purchased my first new bike in 20 years, then rebuilt it to my preferred specifications. For the last few months, that bicycle was my only source of transportation, as I don't own a car. Now it's gone.

I was taken out by a hit & run driver on Thursday, my little bike was destroyed. Compared to the bike, my own injuries are relatively minor, but now I'm left with nothing... unable to afford a new bicycle, and registered for quite a few events with nothing I can ride in them with. I should be happy that I'm alive and not permanently injured, but instead I'm devastated by the loss of my bike. The driver of the vehicle that hit me has yet to be found.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what I can do. I need something very lightweight, as the majority of my events involve climbing challenges. I don't want to give up on the events. I made promises to a number of charities, and I like to keep those promises. Moreover, nothing makes me feel more alive than when I'm on a bicycle.

Currently, I'm registered for:
Elephant Rock Ride (Metric Century)
Alta Alpina 8-Pass challenge (world's hardest double- 200 mi, 8 passes 20k+ vertical)
Triple Bypass (120 miles over 3 passes)
Bob Cook Memorial Mount Evans hill climb (I may as well make my debut to racing a challenge in itself)
Deer Creek Challenge (hardest century in the USA)

Charities I'm supporting this year include Colorado Neurological Institute and Doctors Without Borders. In addition, I make every effort to promote cycling among the students at the school I work at.

Can anyone help? Even if I could borrow something, that would be a start. I'm 5'3", so I'm looking for something relatively small. My poor ruined bicycle was 48cm.
